Company Profile
Camp Nor'wester
Company Overview
The founders of Camp Nor'wester, Frank and Lucile Henderson, envisioned a camp that would provide children not only with an active and educational outdoor summer experience, but also with an intensive group living environment designed to develop strong interpersonal skills and community awareness. Since the first campers arrived in the summer of 1935, camp has utilized a unique "unit system," whereby campers participate in most daily activities as part of a group of their peers, rather than following individual schedules. The four-week session allows individuals to develop into cohesive units, fostering supportive group dynamics and life-long friendships. Activities offered include: traditional camping and outdoors skills, waterfront activities including sailing, kayaking and canoeing, as well as rock climbing, biking, archery, singing, drama, and arts and crafts. The camp is located on beautiful Johns Island Washington,
