Company Profile
Company Overview
Young people will learn & grow regardless of who they are or where they are, but they do so best in a warm, supportive & stimulating environment. Camp Wa-Klo offers such an environment. The congeniality & cohesivenesss that are hallmarks of Camp Wa-Klo have many sources. A key one is staff which is at the ratio of one for each four campers. Wa-Klo's counselors tend to be a bit older, on average, than at many camps. We also look for qualities beyond athletic or artistic skills... things like broad experience working with young people, or an abiding interest in education. Above all, we look for a caring, patient way with children. In this thriving, vibrant home away from home & with guidance from dedicated and mature counselors, each camper's personal growth flourishes.
Company History
Wa-Klo was founded in 1938 by two educators from New York. The camp has run every summer since 1938 with 150 young girls between the ages of 6 & 17.
Wa-Klo campers come from all over the US & overseas. Each summer campers & staff come from nearby Atlantic States, the South, Southwest & West. They also come from far away lands - Taiwan, Belgium, France, Venezuela, Ecuador, Mexico, Great Britain, Australia, Spain, Canada, Poland and Germany. Though far from their native land they come to Wa-Klo their home away from home to develop friendships as well as artistic and athletic skills.
Camp Wa-Klo is nestled in the heart of southwestern New Hampshire on the border of two small towns - Jaffrey & Dublin. Boston is less then a two hour drive and New York is just five hours from our front door.
