Company Overview
Fernwood Cove is an all girls camp in Maine with a co-ed staff. Fernwood Cove provides campers with a complete traditional camp experience in a half season session. "The Cove", set among rolling meadows, streams and woods, offers a full range of all camp activities and excellent facilities. Campers select weekly "focus activities" for specialized instruction, as well as daily "free choice" activities either for extra instruction, or to try something new. Activities include but are not limited to: aerobics, archery, arts/crafts, canoeing, ceramics, crew, culinary arts, dance, English riding, fabric arts, gymnastics, jewelry (metal smithing), kayaking, mountain biking, music, nature, painting, photography, rock climbing, ropes course (high and low), sailing, swimming, team sports (basketball, dodgeball, beach volleyball, soccer, softball, kickball, field hockey and lacrosse), tennis, theater, musical theater, vocal theater, water-skiing, and wakeboarding. There are weekly out of camp trips, overnights and intercamp sports events. Our unique community of girls and caring, mature staff create a diverse and supportive atmosphere in which each girl may reach her individual potential.
Company History
Fernwood Cove started in 1999 and has just enjoyed it's 10th summer. In those 10 summers, Fernwood Cove has gone from one session of 60 girls to at capacity with 200 girls in each of two sessions. Our camper retention rate is about 85% and our counselor retention rate is about 60%. The camp is owned by Jim and Beigette Gill who bought the camp in 2005. The Gills and their very strong team of Directors are committed to the success of Fernwood Cove!
