Who We Are

Girl Scouts - Fox Valley Council located in Sugar Grove, Illinois, is the preeminent organization dedicated solely to girls - all girls - where, in an accepting and nurturing environment, girls build character and skills for success in the real world. In partnership with committed adult volunteers, girls develop qualities that will serve them all their lives, like leadership, strong values, social conscience, and conviction about their own potential and self-worth.

Today there are over 6,000 registered girl members and over 1,300 registered adult volunteers in the Council's jurisdiction which includes all of Kendall County, southern Kane County and parts of DeKalb and LaSalle Counties. Through membership in Girl Scouts of the USA and the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts, Fox Valley is part of a worldwide family of ten million girls and adults in 140 countries.

What We Do

In Fox Valley girls discover fun, friendship, and the power of girls together. Girls participate in troops, groups, or as individually registered members and enrich their lives through field trips, community service projects, Cultural exchange, environmental stewardship, Workshops and clinics. Girls camp at the council property, Camp Dean in Big Rock, Illinois on 160 acres of woods with a lake and a restored prairie and have the opportunity to attend day camp in twelve locations throughout the council. Volunteers are served by the Council Service Center, centrally located in Sugar Grove, Illinois, which maintains a Council Shop for insignia, badges, patches, and recognition. Volunteers enhance their Girl Scout experience through continuing education by certified trainers.

Our Structure

Girl Scouting is open to all girls ages 5-17. Daisy Girl Scouts are 5-6 years old, Brownie Girl Scouts are 6-8 years old, Junior Girl Scouts are 8-11 years old, Studio 2B Girl Scouts are 11-17 years old. It is never too late to be a Girl Scout. Membership fee is $10.00 per year, which provides accident insurance for girls participating in approved Girl Scout activities. Financial assistance is available.

Almost all adults are volunteers. Women and men interested in volunteering are encouraged to contact the council. There are many, many ways to volunteer to ensure girls are growing strong.
