The Director oversees program delivery, seasonal staff leadership, and daily camp operations while ensuring a safe and engaging camp experience for campers entering 2nd through 9th grade, supported by a seasonal staff of high school and college-age counselors. This role works closely with the Board of Directors, administrative staff, and camp ranger to support youth development, community connection, and responsible stewardship of camp facilities.</p> <h2>Time Commitment</h2> <ul> <li>Attendance at regular board meetings and program planning meetings</li> <li>Approximately six months of weekly engagement: season planning begins October&ndash;November, ramping up through spring hiring and training into the summer program</li> <li>Full-time presence during staff training and the summer program season</li> <li>Off-season: facilitating and monitoring enrollment, registration rollover, and camper recruitment</li> </ul> <h2>Key Responsibilities</h2> <h3>Program Leadership</h3> <ul> <li>Plan, implement, and evaluate Summer Youth Program activities</li> <li>Ensure programming supports youth development and camper engagement</li> <li>Maintain safety standards including risk management and emergency procedures, applying ACA accreditation standards as guidance in partnership with the Board</li> </ul> <h3>Financial Management</h3> <ul> <li>Develop and manage the seasonal program budget</li> <li>Monitor program expenses and maintain financial records</li> </ul> <h3>Staff Leadership</h3> <ul> <li>Recruit, hire, train, and supervise seasonal camp staff (high school and college-age)</li> <li>Provide leadership, guidance, and performance evaluation throughout the season</li> </ul> <h3>Camp Operations</h3> <ul> <li>Oversee daily camp activities, schedules, and camper supervision</li> <li>Ensure compliance with health, food service, and safety requirements</li> <li>Maintain camper records and program documentation</li> </ul> <h3>Enrollment &amp; Outreach</h3> <ul> <li>Support camper recruitment and program promotion</li> <li>Update and roll over camper records; create registration</li> <li>Facilitate and monitor enrollment in the off-season</li> </ul> <h3>Property Stewardship</h3> <ul> <li>Ensure responsible use of camp facilities and program equipment</li> <li>Coordinate with the Camp Ranger regarding property use and maintenance needs</li> </ul> <h2>Qualifications</h2> <ul> <li>Experience in youth programs, camps, outdoor education, or recreation programs</li> <li>Experience working with youth in grades 2&ndash;9 and with parents/guardians</li> <li>Leadership experience supervising staff or teams</li> <li>Strong organizational and communication skills</li> <li>A degree in outdoor recreation, education, youth development, or a related field is preferred</li> <li>Familiarity with ACA accreditation standards preferred</li> <li>Experience with, or willingness to learn, CampSite software and Google Workspace</li> <li>Ability to pass a criminal background check</li> </ul> <h2>Our Mission</h2> <div> <h3>Organizational Mission</h3> <p>Ensure the stewardship of Camp Kiwanilong, and enrich the lives of youth, families, and groups through inclusive outdoor camp experiences.</p> <h3>Program Mission</h3> <p>As a collective staff, our hope is to create a welcoming environment that will magnify a camper's self-worth and their ability to love themselves.
